Navy Day was established on October 27, 1922, by the Navy League of the United States. Although it was not a national holiday, Navy Day received particular attention from President Warren Harding. Harding wrote to the Secretary of the Navy Edwin Denby:
“Thank you for your note which brings assurance of the notable success which seems certain to attend the celebration of Navy Day on Friday, October 27, in commemoration of past and present services of the Navy. From our earliest national beginnings, the Navy has always been and deserved to be, an object of particular pride to the American people. Its record is indeed one to inspire such sentiments, and I am very sure that such a commemoration, as is planned, will be a timely reminder.”
“It is well for us to have in mind that under a program of lessening naval armaments there is a greater reason for maintaining the highest efficiency, fitness and morale in this branch of the national defensive service. I know how earnestly the Navy personnel are devoted to this idea and want you to be assured of my hearty concurrence.”
October 27 was suggested by the Navy League to recognize Theodore Roosevelt’s birthday. Roosevelt had been an Assistant Secretary of the Navy and supported a strong Navy as well as the idea of Navy Day. Also, October 27 was the anniversary of a 1775 report issued by a special committee of the Continental Congress favoring the purchase of merchant ships as the foundation of an American Navy.
Navy Day was last observed on Oct. 27, 194
Breaking News: Patient in New York City tests positive for Ebola, reports say. Tune into Fox News for LIVE updates.
Update Press conference the Mayor of New York City Bill de Blasio when he first came out looked to me like he was about ready to crap his pants. Governor of New York Andrew Mark Cuomo seemed to be doing a better job of hiding the fact he was worried. They start the meeting with the same song and dance you can only get Ebola with contact to bodily fluids that it is very hard to become infected. The Dr with Ebola did report himself as soon as he got a fever. The timeline for yesterday is as follows he hung out with four friends one is his girlfriend they went bowling taking the A and L train to and from the bowling ally. He told the hospital that he was feeling tired but had no fever till the next day.One other person is in the hospital beside himself, but so far that person is not showing any signs ( I am thinking it is his girlfriend but don’t know.) The CDC is sending a team to the hospital.
When a reporter asks if he was wearing a full protective suit when taking care of the Ebola patients in Africa. They seem to state that he was, which brings up this then how did he get it.
Another do as I say not as I do. Last Monday Senator Jamilah Nasheed, a Democrat, who likes for a vote for “anti-gun” bills in her state, was arrested during a protest outside of the Ferguson Police Department. It seems the police found a gun on her surprise, surprise the ones who don’t think the rest of us needs a gun has one.Why did she have one on her person? you know she had her bodyguards with her who had their guns so once more why did she need one? Could be she did not feel safe with the other black protesters or is it she feels she has a right to own a gun. But little people like you and I don’t need to feel safe, does she feel that she is somehow better than the rest of the public? I feel Democrat’s feel they are somehow better than the ordinary folks they think themselves smarter than the average Joe/Jane out in the real world. Forgetting if it was not for the average Joe / Jane paying tax’s, fighting wars they would be down in the mud like the rest of us.
With the mid-terms in two weeks, my e-mail overflows with pleas to Vote and support for one party or another which is all fine and good after all I am on their mailing list. The big national Party’s pour millions into media both on TV, Radio and social media outlets. Here is the problem if you live in a big city say, New York, Dallas and Boston your party works year round pushing for what they want. In small towns and remote areas like I live it, we don’t hear or see any of the local groups till mid-terms or the general election then we get a flood. Why well most offices for the party’s close down they are run by volunteers maybe one paid a staff member to keep the local office open. There is the problem! No one updates the website for local or national party news; the Facebook page has few if any updates and the Twitter accounts stop posting.
What needs to be done is very simple
1.Keep the web page up to date, even if it’s just state news Bing and Google”s web search spiders won’t look for your website and index it if you don’t update. No indexing, no hits.
2. Facebook can mean major rollovers for your party keep it updated, throw in a little humor with all the politics’ it will bring back people.
3. Do not let your Twitter account Die, Once more just because you are local does not mean you have to stay local year round. One more thing about Twitter when you first start out Follow back the people who follow you, say thank you to those that follow you. Keep yours follows up to date if people are not following you back unfollow them there are a few free programs out there to help with this I use Friend or Follow .com. If you want your party to win folks, you got to be social
